Chicken bhuna

Chicken bhuna is commonly made in many kitchen of Indian houses. It pairs best with Roti and plain rice.


Ingredients:

  • 500g boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 3-4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, minced
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish


Instructions:

  • Heat oil in a pan or skillet over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  • Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  • Add minced garlic, ginger, and green chilies. Cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  • Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften and release their juices.
  • Add coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the chicken pieces to the pan and stir to coat them with the spice mixture.
  • Cook the chicken on medium-high heat until it is browned on all sides, stirring occasionally.
  • Once the chicken is browned, reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes until the chicken is cooked through.
  • Check for seasoning and adjust if needed. Sprinkle garam masala over the chicken and mix well.
  • Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice, naan, or roti.
