It's a popular salsa variation that adds a sweet and tropical twist to traditional salsas. Mango salsa can be used as a topping for various dishes or served as a dip with tortilla chips. Here's a basic recipe for mango salsa:

Ingredients:

  • 2 ripe mangoes, peeled, pitted, and diced
  • 1/2 red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 jalapeño, seeds removed and finely chopped (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Juice of 2 limes
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Optional Additions:

  • Diced avocado
  • Black beans
  • Corn kernels (fresh or grilled)
  • Cherry tomatoes, halved
  • Red or green chili for extra heat

Instructions:

Prepare Ingredients:

  • Peel, pit, and dice the ripe mangoes. Finely chop the red onion, red bell pepper, jalapeño, and cilantro.

Combine Ingredients:

  • In a bowl, combine the diced mangoes, chopped red onion, diced red bell pepper, chopped jalapeño, and chopped cilantro.

Add Lime Juice:

  • Squeeze the juice of two limes over the mango mixture. Adjust the amount of lime juice to taste.

Season:

  • Season the salsa with salt and pepper to taste. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.

Optional Additions:

  • If desired, add any optional ingredients such as diced avocado, black beans, corn kernels, cherry tomatoes, or extra chili for more heat.

Chill:

  • Allow the mango salsa to chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving. This enhances the flavors and allows the ingredients to meld.

Serve:

  • Serve the mango salsa as a topping for grilled chicken, fish, shrimp, or tacos. Alternatively, use it as a refreshing dip with tortilla chips.
