Peanut butter sauce

By Food E Fare

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup warm water (or more as needed to thin the sauce)
  • Optional: red pepper flakes or Sriracha for heat, chopped green onions or cilantro for garnish

Instruction

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the peanut butter, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, honey or maple syrup, grated ginger, and minced garlic until smooth.
  • Gradually add warm water, stirring continuously, until you reach your desired consistency. Add more water if you prefer a thinner sauce.
  • Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed, adding more soy sauce for saltiness, honey for sweetness, or vinegar for acidity.
  • If you like a spicy sauce, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a squirt of Sriracha and mix well.
  • Serve the peanut butter sauce immediately over noodles, grilled chicken, tofu, vegetables, or as a dipping sauce for spring rolls or satay.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions or cilantro for an extra burst of flavor.
