  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For the sauce:

  • 2 cups marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil or parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (for serving)

Instructions:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Use your hands to mix everything together until well combined.
  • Shape the meat mixture into small meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter. You should get approximately 20-24 meatballs, depending on the size.
  • killet. You may need to cook the meatballs in batches.
  • Cook the meatballs for 3-4 minutes on one side, then carefully flip them over using tongs or a spatula. Continue to cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until the meatballs are browned on all sides and cooked through.
  • Remove the cooked meatballs from the skillet and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess grease.
  • In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes, or until fragrant.
  • Pour the marinara sauce into the skillet with the onions and garlic, stirring to combine. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Return the cooked meatballs to the skillet, nestling them into the sauce. Spoon some of the sauce over the meatballs to coat them evenly.
  • Reduce the heat to low and let the meatballs simmer in the sauce for 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together and the meatballs to absorb some of the sauce.
  • Garnish the skillet meatballs with chopped fresh basil or parsley before serving. Serve hot, sprinkled with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.

Tips:

These skillet meatballs are tender, flavorful, and perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner. Enjoy them on their own, over pasta, or with crusty bread for dipping in the delicious sauce!
